May 4, 11, and 18 (Mondays) at 6:00 PM- 6:30 PM. “Milk and Cookies” story time for all ages May 5 (Tuesday) at 6:30 PM. Sam Bartlett’s “No Talent” Cartooning Salon. Learn how to be a cartoonist and create sequential artwork. May 7 and 21 (Thursdays). 10:00-10:30 AM. Preschool playtime for ages 3 to 6. Come join us for a fun hour of crafts, coloring, and jumping around! Adults can stay and visit and get engaged in some hands-on fun. May 7 (Thursday). 4:30-5:00 PM. Beginning Internet computer class. Grades 1-6. May 8. (Friday). 4:00 PM-5:00 PM. Extreme Team. For BOYS ONLY grades 4 to 6. Stuntology. Learn pranks and tricks to make you the funniest person in the room. May 14 (Thursday). 4:15-5:15 PM. Advanced Internet computer class. Grades 1-6. May 15 (Friday) 3:45-5:15. “Girl Mania” craft for GIRLS ONLY grades 4 to 6. Ultra Violet craft. Come and make an ultraviolet bracelet that changes colors in the sun. May 16 (Saturday). 12-3 PM. Bartholomew County Literacy Festival. Come to the Library Plaza for games, books, and food, and register for the Summer Reading Club while you’re there. May 21 (Thursday) 4:15-5:15 PM. Internet Gaming computer class. Grades 1-6.

Tuesday, May 26. 6:30 PM. “Smash or Trash” for ages 13-18. Read whatever book you like, and come in and discuss it. Friday, May 29. 4:00 PM. Teen crafts for GIRLS ONLY grades 7-12. Make some “Twilight” crafts in Bella’s style by making bracelets from pop can tabs.

Saturday May 2. 10 AM-11 AM. Red Room. “Threads of Life: Immigration Stories Project.” This celebration event will feature readings from the Welcoming Community Story Project, funded by the Heritage Fund. Monday May 4. 7:00 PM. Red Room. Tony Moravec presents “Zaharako’s Back In Business.” Moravec will discuss his efforts in leading the restoration of Zaharakos Restaurant in Columbus. Monday May 11. 7:00 PM. Red Room. Ingrid Cummings presents “The Vigorous Mind.” Cummings, an IU professor and magazine editor, will discuss her book “The Vigorous Mind” which discusses ways to “cross-train” your brain for maximum productivity. Tuesday May 12. 6:30 PM. Red Room. Dianna Pandak presents “Laughter is the best medicine.” Pandak, a laughter specialist, will discuss the health benefits of laughter. Thursday May 14. 7:00 PM. Red Room. “Magic and Cultural Identity in the works of Rudolfo Anaya.” The Columbus Arts Council presents professor Margarite Fernandez Olmos, an expert in the works of Rudolfo Anaya. She will discuss Anaya’s spiritual approach in his works. Saturday May 16. 12-3 PM. Bartholomew County Literacy Festival. Dr. Jerome Weber presents “Natural Health 101.” Weber will discuss three free things a person can do to feel better immediately and discuss the difference between modern medicine and natural medicine. Tuesday May 19. 12 PM. Conference Room. Book Discussion. Read a non-fiction or fiction book by an Indiana author. Be prepared to discuss. Tuesday May 19. 7 PM. Red Room. “Take the Wheel: Get the Best Car Deal.” The Centra Credit Union staff will discuss how to determine how much you should spend on a car and how to best approach your financing options. Thursday May 21. 6:30 PM. Red Room. “People’s Law: Consumer Law.” The law firms of Cline King and King and McGillivary LLC will discuss how the legal system can protect you from unsafe products. Wednesday May 27. 7 PM. Conference Room. Book Discussion of “Bless Me Ultima.” Join reference librarian Tyler Munn in a discussion of the Big Read book “Bless Me Ultima” by Rudolfo Anaya. Thursday May 28. 7 PM. Red Room. “Cold Cases.” Officers from Indiana State Police will discuss how cases become “cold”, how “cold cases” are solved, and if they’re really like the cold cases are on TV.
